39 Bible Verses for Healing: Physical, Emotional, and Spiritual

God has always been faithful to provide for man’s needs, and healing is one such need He is ever eager to meet. Healing has to do with the restoration of health. It could be physical, spiritual, or emotional. The Bible is full of many healing scriptures. You can cling to those verses when you face a health challenge.

To demonstrate God’s concern for people’s well-being, Jesus spent about one-third of His earthly ministry healing the sick. Because God cares for you, He is concerned about your well-being. He wants you to be healthy – spirit, soul, and body.

God’s Word is powerful. As you believe and act on His promises, you allow yourself to experience God’s healing power at work in your life. Proverbs 4:20 says God’s Words are life to those that find them and health to all their flesh. No matter what your needs or circumstances may be, you can fight your way to victory with the Word of God.

Below are some healing scriptures in the Bible that you can meditate on and cling to.

Why Is Healing Important?

Anyone facing challenges to their physical, emotional, or spiritual health knows how important it is to be healed. As you build your faith with these Bible verses on healing, remember the following points explaining the importance of healing:

  • Healing can help us stay alive, especially when our situation defies human help (2 Kings 20:1-6).
  • Healing inspires confidence in God’s Word.
  • Healing is part of the Great Commission committed to every believer in Christ. God uses healing to confirm His Word and draw men to Himself (Matthew 10:5-7, Mark 16:20, Luke 10:8-9)
  • People appreciate God better after receiving healing (Luke 17:15-16).
  • Healing can inspire genuine repentance.

How to Support Others Who Are Praying for Healing

The Bible teaches us to bear one another’s burdens. When your path crosses with someone who is trusting God for healing, be kind enough to join them in the journey.

Pray with them. James 5:16 admonishes us to pray for one another. Before saying your prayer, you can boost their faith by reading some verses on healing out to them. And as the Apostle James recommended, you can get an elder to lay hands on them (James 5:14).

More importantly, be an encourager. Share your personal healing stories or someone else’s healing journey.

How to Apply Verses on Healing

One thing is clear from all the scriptures on healing highlighted above: God’s Word has healing power. You can experience God’s miracles firsthand as you put your faith in Him.

Start by reading these verses out loud to yourself regularly and consistently. You can also memorize short Bible verses for healing and strength to be armed with God’s truths when you get discouraged or feel hopeless.  Spend time meditating on the scriptures on healing and confess them often. Finally, pray with them. God has promised that if we ask anything in His name, He will do it. Whether you’re saying one of the healing prayers in the Bible or you’re engaging your own words, ask in faith and believe that God will bring deliverance in your life.
